Two Ghosts OR...
So, these two females were produced in 09 from an Ember Het Hypo breeding. It was probably a Ghost male x Ember Het Hypo female breeding. As these two girls are growing up (7 months old) and especially after the last shed (last night) I am trying to talk myself into the fact that one might be an Ember Hypo cross.
One looks like a nice orange ghost, like the probable sire, and one looks more mellow in coloring, more muted, more of a toffee/yellow looking color, and the pattern looks funky.
Am I wishful thinking and seeing things, or is there a chance one could be a cross? The Ember is probably a Het Lucy or Vanilla, no super has been produced as of yet. Please understand that these are not glamour shots, it was too cold today to take any good pics outside.

The one I think might be a cross in on the bottom.
Possible cross on the left.

This last pic shows three siblings, the Ember is in the middle, Ghost on far left, and possible cross on the far right.

Re: Two Ghosts OR...
The ghost and possible cross in the last picture look very similar, compared to the Ember in the middle of them.

Dave, tough call but I see what you're saying. I'm thinking that you may become more convinced each shed...time will tell.

Re: Two Ghosts OR...
What are the possibilities that both of those are crosses? Both of those ghosts seem to be showing similar traits to the ember. The whole problem with going off some of those traits is the fact that the ember looks blushed out just like an average ghost would be.

Re: Two Ghosts OR...
Well dang - females! If she was a male, of course breeding him to a normal to see what he threw, would be a quick way to be sure. But I do see a subtle difference between the two, but don't know enough to really make a judgement. I do know that I really like that animal - it has a "cleaner" crisper look to it. It's a subtle difference, but it's there.

Re: Two Ghosts OR...
Well, I can say that even without your description and labeling of each pic, I knew which snake was the one you thought might be special. She is a gorgeous snake!
Most hypos that I've seen do not have that amount of blushing and flames. The one ember pic you provided also does not seem to have that much blushing & flames. So is it the result of the combo? Or did that snake just happen to get all the modifying genes to line up right?
I also see what you mean about the pattern being a little funky. The part that stands out the most to me is the oddly shaped alien eyes, but the ember doesn't seem to have those either.
Either way, she is very nice, and definitely a keeper. It would be nice if she were male so you can prove her out sooner, but even if she turns out to be "just" a hypo, I'd think she is an excellent addition to anyone's collection.

Re: Two Ghosts OR...
I don't think you are imagining the differences between the two ghosts. The one definitely has a different look--cleaner, more blushed, altered pattern. It's just hard to say for certain if that difference is due to the influence of the ember morph or just normal variation between ghosts. I'm going to bet that you'll find ember in there in the future when you breed her. One thing is for certain---she's a keeper!

Re: Two Ghosts OR...
Thanks for the input, I will keep you posted. Glad I made the decision not to sell either of them, because I would have sold the possible cross and kept the other one because she was more orange
