    Power outage

I was wondering how worried i should be about my 2 BPs getting a RI or any other illness since my power was out from 7:00pm yesterday till 11:30am this morning. I put towels and blankets over their cages to keep some insulation and i tracked the temps of the house the whole time and they said in the range of 60-53 degrees F.

Should i be worried about illness or anything else?

I live in Charlotte also and luckily we didn't get hit too hard so we didn't lose power. The only problem is everything is going to freeze tonight and we might lose power when the poles fall down. I would just raise the temps and humidity and you should be fine, but as always watch your snakes very closely.

You should keep hand warmers stocked. I've got 15+ stocked up just in case something like that happens. If you don't have hand warmers and you have a gas stove you can heat up some water and put warm water bottles in the tank/tubs. I can't think of anything else you could do right now.

I would keep a close eye on them, that's for sure. 60-53 is very cold for a bp. A friend of mine got an URI just from 75 degrees.

    Good! You won't regret it!

I'm compulsive about buying hand warmers now! I drive my fiance nuts whenever we are in a check out line "Hey! More hand warmers!" It's especially bad now that our grocery store dropped the price to 84 cents for two!!!

    Re: Power outage

When I got an email from the landlord saying the power would be off in my building for half the day, I actually took Roxanne with me to my college classes (kept her tucked underneath my hoodie, around my neck)and sat next to the heater in every classroom.

I think she enjoyed the day out,and when i checked the temps when the power can back on and her hot side was 90 thanks to the UTH and i layed her back in the tank.
