    Tips for moving (locally)?

I'm moving this weekend, just to a place across town - about 5 miles away. Very excited, but since this is my first time moving with snakes, I'm wondering how the logistics will work. Any tips on doing a local move with 9 BPs, 5 corns & two large racks w/ tubs? Some questions that come to mind:

Should I move them at the beginning or end of the weekend? And should I move the racks first, then bring the snakes over the following day?
Do I need to let the racks cycle for a day, and if so, where do I put the snakes?
How do you recommend driving with the snakes themselves? Should I use individual snake bags, or leave them in the tubs (for those with lids)?
Should I hold off on feeding until everyone's settled? Feeding day is Monday, and we should be fully moved by Saturday-Sunday.
What else am I forgetting about??? TIA for any advice, and wish me luck!

Now that I think about it, I only have maybe 4-5 snake bags... is it okay to double/triple them up for the short drive, or should I find alternatives (like pillowcases & boxes)?

    Re: Tips for moving (locally)?

I split my females and males up in 4 41 qt tubs, heated my car and moved them 15 miles across the city in November. Tips? Move everything in the house first, then take the snakes out and stick them in the tubs, move the racks and set them up in the new place, bring the snakes over last and stick em in their tubs. I had mine sitting on 4 heat pads ( 1 under each tub ) while they waited to be transported.

    Thanks - good advice!

I also have a dog and 2 cats to move, so this should be interesting. For once my dog is the easiest pet in the equation... He'll just think "Yippee, we're going bye-bye in the car!" LOL

    Re: Tips for moving (locally)?

I moved last the end of Last April with no real issues...
I actually kept the lids for every tub in my racks so I just kept every animal in their normal tub and put a lid on each.
Moved the Racks first then moved all the animals on a second trip after I had the racks all set where they were going to be and up and running.
only a 10 mile move was not a big issue... I moved around 40 snakes at the time.

Wow, 40 snakes at a time?? Imagine if you'd been pulled over during the drive... I'd love to see the cop's face, when you showed him what was in the tubs.
