Typically balls do not soak and it isn't a required part of their husbandry. When I need to soak a snake to remove a bad shed I use a large tupperware container with holes drilled into the lid but I don't have a permanent fixture in their enclosure for soaking.

While my balls have normal sized bowls, I haven't noticed any extra soaking. However, I do provide a big dog bowl for the breeding girls so that they can have as much humidity as they like (I do notice they soak more during this time).
