What should average body temp be?

I've got all of the right temps dialed in for my snake enclosures, but I recently got a temp gun and have been checking the body temps of my snakes, but I realized I don't know what I should expect the body temps to be on average? The body temps are never the same as the surrounding temp, at least in my tests... Generally I get a body temp around 70-75F depending on which side of the enclosure they're on. But my warm side temps are typically around 85-88F, and cool side temps around 75F.

Is there some listing somewhere that will tell me what the correct average body temp should be for a ball? I also have a couple Bredl's Pythons and a Dumeril's Boa, if anyone has those temps...?

    Thanks!

Re: What should average body temp be?

Don't worry about the body temps; as long as you are providing the proper temp ranges the snake will take care of its own body temp.

You do however need to get your warm side up to 90 and your cool side to at LEAST 78 preferably 80-82 degrees.

78 degrees is the lowest temps I personally feel comfortable with; lower temps than this increase the chance of a respiratory infection.

Thanks Rich - I'll raise the temp on my thermostat.

Re: What should average body temp be?

My BPs seem to do fine in 75 during the nite on the cold side (A/C is usualy running at 75-76). During the day the A/C is off as there is no one at the appartment, so the cold side is usualy 78+.
