    breeding ball pythons?

    hey i just bought a '09 spider female and pastel male. about how old and how big do they need to get before i can start breeding? also do you have to put your snakes thru the hibernation process every year or is it only when you want to breed them

    as far as i know you dont hibernate balls

    As a "rule" a females should be at least 2 years old and 1500g. Males have been known to breed pretty early.

    You do not need to hibernate them every year. Some breeders cool their snakes for the breeding season, some don't. Its all a matter of personal preference.

    Ball pythons don't brumate (hibernate).

    I do not cool mine. Some people do, some people don't - what works for me in Georgia may not work for someone in New England because our climates are different.
