    Stinky boys? :)

Just trying to figure out why my male BP has more of an "odor" than my female! I've definitely narrowed it down to his urine...WOW...the gift that keeps on giving. I've noticed that my female has the same odor when she urinates though it's no where near as pungent! Poor Hank probably wonders why he's gotten 3X as many baths than his girlfriend! I'm wondering if it's a sex-related thing (kinda like male cats who have not been neutered...their urine will clear out a room!)...anyone else notice a difference in "smell" between their boys and girls?

I think it just varies from snake to snake, just like people.

It varies depending on the snake from what I have learned. Elizabeth my normal....no smell what so ever. Henry....a little bit but nothing bad at all. Then there is Samantha the new butter....Holy Mother Of God.....it could kill you. She is in my bedroom...and she can pee in the middle of the night and it will wake you up instantly. I always have to get up and clean out the spot in her cage. Doesn't matter if it is 3 am....gotta happen right then. She is a stinker girl.

LOL! Thanks so much for the input! I'm so glad to know it's not a gender thing...I was seriously reconsidering bringing any more boys into the group! Like I said, poor Hank (the water phobic one, of course) can't seem to figure out why a good pee always earns him a bath! Thank God they don't urinate on a daily basis...

Potty train him! lol...I know it sounds funny but I swear it works. My snakes all eat on Saturday. We bring them out on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for a romp around the house. Everytime we put them on a comforter with some towels they know they have to stay there until until they go poddy. It works like a charm everytime. Once they go they have free range of the upstairs...for the most part. They usually like to go up and down the stairs. I know...I have really weird snakes. But they are so regular and I can count on them each week to go outside of their enclosure. Its crazy. lol

    Re: Stinky boys? :)

Every single week like clock work I got pooped on. All of them would do it the same day!! This kept happening for like a couple of months. Finally I learned to put them on a comforter with some towels and it just worked. Once one of them does their stuff we dump it in the toilet and put another towel down for the next one. They have to stay there until they do their business. The one that just poo'd gets to cruize around. I then just put the towels in the washer and bleach them on a heavy cycle. Now they haven't poo'd in their enclosures in quite a while. ?? I have weird BP's...

I know I sound crazy....but they really do it every single week. Except my normal last week did not soooooo....we are anticipating a HUGE one this week. Egads.
