    Is this normal?

I am kinda new to having a snake. She is a ball python and about 3 years old. She has been hiding a lot instead of going around her cage. This has been going on for a couple months now. I dont believe anything is wrong with her as far as i can tell. She had a bad shed the last time but that was it. Is it normal for a snake to hide for extended periods of time?

Yeah, It is normal. Especially for an older BP. They are very secretive snakes.

ok, she used to be so active but she suddenly just seemed to lose interest in going around her cage. Granted if i was her i would have lost interest long ago but i just got a bit worried

Once they settle in they become more like pet rocks.

Roaming around the cage often is a sign of stress. If they are hiding that means they feel safe in their home and don't want to constantly look for a way out.

This is actually a good thing...if she was wandering a lot during the day...she was probably stressed. I do catch mine wandering around their cage at night sometimes. But that is the time they are most active. Other than that they are in their hides. Especially after eating...I don't see them for a couple of days at that point or when they are blue...they typically don't come out either.
