    Willfully un-intelligent or.......?

    So I'm looking on Craigslist today, and I find a post where this person says they have a lemon pastel BP to rehome. With of course the couple of obligatory bad pics.

    I'm pretty sure this snake is no lemon pastel, but I can see just enough to suspect it MIGHT just be a browned out pastel. So I email and ask the standard questions: How old? Sex? How much?

    And I ask for a few more pictures, of the head and belly, because that is going to help me determine if it is indeed a pastel.

    The person emails me back and says, and I quote "{ Right now the snake is at my buddies pet shop trying to get sold. There is nothing wrong with the head or the belly, if you want more info call XXX-XXX-XXXX.}

    So is this guy really just that dumb, or do you figure he knows darn well that snake isn't what he says and figures if I drive all the way to see it I'll buy it no matter what? In the first place, he's got no business posting a snake that's in a pet shop. Secondly, he should know better than to think someone who knows anything about BP's at all is not just going to pay for a so-called lemon pastel sight unseen.

    I just had to tell someone about this, I am still shaking my head.

    Re: Willfully un-intelligent or.......?

    Experiences like this seem to be fairly common on CraigsList. I stayed away from it until recently, and figured I would give it a shot. None of them are snake related but check out all four of these annoyances:

    1) Guy selling a telescope kit. After almost two weeks of going back and forth, he can't find a major component that he thought he had. Says he's going to get one. I wait. Meanwhile, he posts everything except that component up for sale on craigslist. I mention to him that I saw that, and that I'm a bit confused. But he reassures me that he'll find it and we'll be set to go. Then he does it AGAIN. At which point I called the whole thing off. I don't think he was being malicious, but look at all the time we both wasted.

    2) Guy wants to buy some specific camera lenses. I have them. I go through the trouble of taking very good pictures of them from all angles, reply to him with the pictures and asking when he'd like to meet up. After a week, there is no response.

    3) Guy selling a video camera that I want to buy. I get a response from him, I reply with a place/time, and he never replies.

    4) Another guy selling a different video camera. I get a response from him, I try to set up a place/time, and just like #3, he never replies.

    So in about three weeks, I have not been able to get even one deal to go through. People either don't reply, totally screw up, or do reply and then disappear. It's highly aggravating, but typical of the CraigsList experience. Thus, it isn't just you.

    It's possible that it is a pastel, but there's no way to prove it's a lemon. Although, it might be one of those light normals, and he's trying to pass it off as a pastel.

    More than likely though, it's a normal and he just doesn't know.

    I've had great experiences with craig's list, but I'm really picky about what ads I reply to and what I post up for sale. With patience there can be great finds/good sales.

    I know how you feel, there's an ad in my region where the guy claims his five year old, five foot colombian redtail can still grow to fifteen feet. Just...no.
