    Ball Pythons Purchase & Travel

I'd like to buy a Ball python from America but I live in England,

Can someone please explain exactly what I have to do with regards to buying a royal python & getting it shipped over to England..

I've heard I Need Cites paperwork what is this? how much does it cost? does the seller need one too?

What other charges will be applied to the royal after the purchase price?

Any idea on how much extra the charges will be?

Anything that would explain & help me understand what I need to do will be helpfull.

    Thanks for any information

Like Malcolm said there are a few places on your side of the pond..

but to answer a few questions there are a few expenses that the buyer might have to shoulder.

1: cost of CITIES permit they are about 50.00 I believe
2: cost for air freight next or second day via Delta Dash
3: vet certificate for CITIES papers.
4: you the buyer will need importation papers for your country..

I'm sure there are others but that's just the ones that jump to mind..

In England I have no clue.. Here in the states I had to submit some paperwork and pay a fee. They did some checking and about three months later my CITIES packet showed up..

Am I right in thinking after funds have cleared for a Ball python I'd still have to wait for a few months for the paperwork to arrive in U.S.A before the Ball python will be shipped to England

Normally..cause you have to pay for the animal then the paperwork has to be filed to get the permit..Then the breeder has to schedule a flight for them..

The time has been reduced for those on the "master list" but that's a hard thing to get you name on at this point.

You could contact Vin Russo of Cutting Edge Herp, I know that he regularly exports overseas. Just google Cutting Edge Herp and you will have his web site. He would be able to guide you through the whole cites paperwork. Truthfully though it might not be cost efficient for you do bring in just one animal. Maybe you could get together with other friends who are looking to bring stuff in. Just an idea, hope it helps. I know Vin and have some of his stock, and he is a nice guy and very straight forward.
