    Feeding during breeding season

How much does everyone feed during the breeding season? I have been offering all my breeding snakes food every week to 10 days. However, since I started cooling them, many refuse to eat. My male pastel, who was a very solid feeder, hasn't taken a meal since I introduced the first female to him. I give him 3-4 days alone between females, and usually offer him a small meal. He wont eat. It's been almost two months. Many of my aggressive feeding females have significantly slowed down, and a couple are refusing food all together as well. I know many snakes will slow down during breeding season, but should I be worried? My male pastel weighed about 1500g going into the breeding season, so he had plenty of weight. But definitely notice him getting a little thinner.

    Re: Feeding during breeding season

I have males\females that continue to pound food weekly and i have males\females that have refused food since the start of breeding season. Really all depends on the snake. As long as its got good weight i wouldnt be worried about it. Unless he\she is dropping weight at an alarming rate it is normal for this to be happening

My male BP, though not anywhere near any other snakes, just got off a 3 and a half month "Hunger Strike". He's fine.
Are you sure he's getting thinner? Or are you just worried... It happens to the best of us.... I've never bred before so I don't know what the situation is in moving snakes around, but if you get a chance in the next 2 or 3 weeks weigh him and see if there is any weight loss. If its only been 2 weeks then I doubt there will be anything wrong with him now.
