I feel soo lucky!!! (question too)

So I had Brutis out last night crawling around on my arm and doing a little exploring around my apartment. It had been a couple of weeks since he last went to the bath room. I picked him up and just as I started to lower him tail first into his tank he released a powerful shot of urine (water), poo, and urate. OH MY GOD!!!! I had no idea that such a small snake (22in) could produce such a large amount of liquid. Thank god he was not on me and he let go inside the tank. I had to re-clean the entire tank. What a mess….

The last times he went it was solid…. Should I be worried?

Did you get him from a reputable breeder?

Have you ever had him checked for internal parasites via fecal exam?

Some BP's don't poo on a regular basis. I bet now that he shot that out....poo is only a matter of time.

The only worry you have is will he poo on you next time you get him out. Nothing to worry about. Sometimes they poo a more solid mass, other times they poo more liquid. I guess poo isn't really the proper wording to use, I guess we should call it deficating, but you get the idea.

Yes i got him from a great breeder.... Have not had him checked this just happened....

He has been going just fine about every 3-4 weeks since we got him... this time was pretty much on time. All the liquid was different than last time... as far as I know... I have not actually seen him go before just found it in the tank... but the prior times it seemed more solid...

he isnt acting weard... seems to be perfectly fine...

he did look at me after he did it like he was in trouble... lol that was prob just me though...

3-4 weeks sounds about normal, provided we're talking about poo. They usually pass urine and urates every couple weeks. Your snake's movements were probably more solid because you had just introduced him to a new home, and drinking was one of his lesser worries. He was probably dehydrated for a while, but sounds fine and well adjusted now.

And lucky you, getting to the tank in time. Mine decided to go while sitting between my boyfriend and I. Got pee on the blanket, couch, and enough poop for three cats all over the floor.

Re: I feel soo lucky!!! (question too)

I picked up my big girl last night and had her out of the cage for about 10 seconds before I noticed the bulge before her vent. In that split second I thought, "You've never seen a male in potentially your entire life, so....", then I felt the area and she went right back in the tank. There was a nice present for me this morning.

Dont they pee liquids as well as the hard white stuff (think its called urates). My boa for sure does both, i can see when he pees liquids in his substrate as it clumps up. I cant tell with my BP though, only notice the white balls. The poop is completley a different thing.

I'm glad i've never been deficated on. I've been musked by my conda when I was playing with her head, and i've been musked by my rufous when I was holding him and he made a run for the border and I was chasing him down with my hands on the carpet. Never been deficated on though.

Re: I feel soo lucky!!! (question too)

My ball python pees like a horse. Maybe I notice cause I have him on paper. He'll pass urine and urates 1 to 2 times inbetween passing of feces. I'm seriously thinking of feeding him less cause I'm cleaning his cage all the time!

And yeah, sometimes he just pees, no feces, no urates.
