    Question Will 2 males fight?

I purchased a male some months ago from a very reputable breeder. His intended female palpated for follicles so I thought it was a good time to put them together. However there is a dispute in my records as to the true gender of the "female". She pops clean and I would say plainly female but what if I goofed and she is a he. I know with colubrids a fight usually ensues in a matter of moments. I was wondering if this same behavior occurs in Ball Pythons. This is my first year breeding these guys so I am being super over cautious.

Ball Pythons are solitary creatures and should not be housed together. Doing so can cause increased stress, disease spread (and any new python should be quarantined from the other animals for 6 months) and poor eating.
It just isn't good for them. They do not hang out together in the wild and this is the primary indicator that they should not be placed together in captivity.

It looks like the above poster did not read your post. Yes, the males will fight.

    Re: Will 2 males fight?

I seem to have been unclear in my previous post... Each snake has his or her own tub. I do not cohab anything here. However what I was referring to was putting them together for breeding purposes. The male is ready and she appears to be ready to breed. My concern is if the she turns out to be a he.
Sorry that was not clear in my previous post.

Yes, they will fight. Some females are aggressive and will put up a fight. I guess you'd have to be experienced to tell the difference in the type of fight. I'm not, so I can't say how the two differ.

    Re: Will 2 males fight?

Yes they will tussle. As said in another post I have 3 males that are aggresive breeders and when places with certain females (not all) they do seem to try and "beat" the girl into submitting to him and letting him breed her. When I first seen and heard this going on I was scared and was unsure of what was going on cause I knew the sex's where right and they only seem to do it to certain females. (And yes these females heve bred with other males before so I know they are females) I guess they just like it rough! LOL
