Been intrested in this as well Greg..mated a few of mine a couple of weeks back, two have went in shed & gained over 200g, neither entertaining the boys..my intrest is simply as I have not bred before I wou8ld hate to be unprepared in the event they become gravid

you should read the sticky about breeding, it explains everything and it should give you some pointers. There is alot more to breeding then I imagined

Just because they lock there is NO guarantee that she will lay. The only way to know for sure when she will lay is if you see an ovulation, then usually 45 days after that or 30 days after the next shed (which should be two weeks after ovulation). If the female is not cycling she will not become gravid regardless of how many locks.

Basically, the answer to the question is: "When she feels like it, if she feels like it". Keep pairing them up until the female starts refusing the male every time.

It's a long slow process, might as well get out the chess set, it's going to be a wait
I got hook ups in Sept, Nov. and early December and now finally seeing bowl hugging, swelling, glowing going on.
2+ months after the first lock ups I am just now finally seeing good progress.
In a few months from now I will if all goes well, I will get to see the fruits of "their" labor, lol.
It is well worth the long slow painful wait

Re: Need Some info.... How long after fertalization will the eggs be laid?

Timeline is hard to establish really so the only one you can really go by is starting on the day your female ovulates.

    Ovulation
10-14 days after ovulation the female has a pre-lay shed
27-30 days after the pre-lay shed eggs are being laid

Of course those are averages it can be a bit longer, I have a female that laid her eggs 49 days after her pre-lay shed last year.
