    Two Substrates, any opinions?

Found the stuff at petco, figured i'd explore other pet stores besides my beloved petsmart (cant find and reptile specific stores around me). Grabbed myself the 3 brick pack of Eco-earth due to price, but can't stop wondering about these two.
Haven't found anything on them specific to Ball pythons. I hope someone has an insight.

The first is Fir and Sphagnum moss mixed, from Zilla. Looked pre-moistened. Looked decent, quite a bit in a bag, 25 quarts for 20 bucks, not too shabby.

The second is Zilla Beaked Moss. 10 quarts for 6 bucks. I just liked the green hue of it. Love the au-natural look personally.

They both hold moisture from what i have read on the bag, but i haven't believed a package since i was a kid. Creepy crawlers were fun, but oh so disappointing. Any +/- experiences and opinions are greatly appreciated. Loving this community.

I may be wrong, but I thought Fir trees were a cedar tree...

I would not use any damp substrate with ball pythons, it will just end up causing scale rot.

If humidity is your problem, there are other things you can do to raise it without having wet substrate. Covering your screen top with aluminum foil tape or plexiglass and removing any heat lamps will make it jump up considerably.

Made a cover for the screen. The substrate can dry, not too worried about the humidity, got that part covered. Dont know if Fir is cedar or not. Im just wondering if anyone has used either of the two products and had some negative effects.

i think you should try using aspen. go to walmart. they have bags of it for 3 bucks. ten times cheaper then what you'll find at petco or petsmart.

Tried aspen, couldn't stand the look of the stuff and how loose it was. That and couldn't see the urine or urates at all.
