A few questions about heating and humidity?
Hey guys iv asked before about my ball pythons (legs) but now first off i dont have the money at the moment to buy a humidity and temperature reader thing. So i had trouble with feeding my new ball python he wouldnt eat i asked the breeder what might be wrong and he said its a heating and humidity issue because at the time all i had was a UTH but i recently bought a CHE and he also recomended i use plexy glass to cover the screen on my tank to get the humidity up so where can i buy a sheet of plexyglass and also after i get the plexyglass over the tank should i be good to go. Or is there anything else i need im kinda straped for cash at the moment so is it fine that i just set the CHE right on top of the screen i know i read the glass tank setup post and it said to put it 1/2in above the screen but is this necessary what i mean is its not going to be too hot for him is it. i just have it pluged into a power strip i dont have one of those things where you can adjust the temperature or anything i just dont want to hurt him if it gets too hot.

Actually, you could get everything you need at the home depot! I love the home depot.
Thermometer hygrometer combo: Accurite weather station -$11
Light dimmer for the UTH: Lutron Lamp Dimmer - $12
Plexiglass/Acrylic - price based on how big/ thick it is. Don't forget to grab an acrylic cutter though, that is the only way to effectively cut it.

Re: A few questions about heating and humidity?
Hi,
Nobody can tell you that for sure - it depends on the temps it is generating on the screen itself and in the tank - and you don't have the equipment to measure that.
Just to add I had ceramic heaters that had a possible surface temp of 700 degrees F so a gap between that and the screen probably isn't the worst idea I have ever heard.
The dimmer and the thermometer comes to $20.
Instead of plexiglass you can cover the lid with foil taped on the outside of the screen to hold in humidity for a couple of bucks.
And I'm a little confused - where did anyone mention zoomed stuff?

Re: A few questions about heating and humidity?
why plexi if your worried about money? plastic cooking sheet wrapped around will keep humidity in. or duck tape, or something, you just need to block air flow.
man having a CHE unregulated scares me, those things get hot, they also kill humidity
