Anyone Else have a "Pooper"?
I have heard stories and different situations of people owning snakes who tend to poop on their owners. As i laughed and enjoy the moments of being glad i wasn't that person, i now realize I have joined the club! I just bought a pair of Het Piebalds and the female is pretty calm, but the male will sit and enjoy the time, then when your never expecting it start peeing and pooing on you. EVERY time i've held him hes pooped on me or pooped while in my hands. People have said its just because he feels really insecure about the situation and is stressed out. Its a shame because now i really don't like to hold him unless absolutely necessary.
So does anyone else out there have a snake that just loves to poop on you?

If you don't hold him frequently this behavior will probably continue. Another defense mech in the wild can be to crap on your aggressor. I'd get an old mattress pad or something just for holding him, that you don't care about and just hold him for short periods every few days. You can also sort of tell when they are getting ready to take a dump because they start to bulge right at the tail.
Another thing you can try is giving him a luke warm soak for 30 minutes prior to holding him. Chances are, if he needs to do a doody, he'll do it then.

This is the one you don't read about in care sheets! All new ball owners should be warned that you will be pooped and peed on as part of snake keeping. It happened to hubby a few weeks ago by our little guy and of course, I couldn't help but laugh. Then on Sunday, it was my turn. Our little lady dumped more poop and pee on me than I thought possible for such a tiny thing. Hubby found it most amusing.

Yeah honestly, its really amazing how big the poop is, it puts my Pomeranian's poop to shame! I can't believe this whole thread is about poop, but we snake owners usually have to go through it i guess.

My snakes seem to be triggered to poop by me changing the substrate.

Re: Anyone Else have a "Pooper"?
I took a few snakes to a photoshoot for a friend the other day, turns out my big(1000 gram) males didnt like one of the models. . . her exact words "ewww that's bigger than my dogs crap" she probably had one of those little dogs that can't walk and has to be carried in a purse everywhere it goes
Cheers!

Re: Anyone Else have a "Pooper"?
If you read any of my posts....I am pooped on ALL THE TIME. Call me the human toilet!! I have finally figured out that when I get them out...I spread out an old comforter and a towel...and let them play around on that for a while. After they do their thing then they get free range to roam. They are so scheduled with their poo and pee it is not even funny. I think they secretly take fiber...lol.

Yes, it's like the old adage about lighting a cigarette at a restaurant (which you can't even do anymore)
Hey maybe that's why the food takes so long to get there!
