My BP swallowed a small wood chip with his meal

Got a question for the experienced BP owners here at BP.net.

Last night I fed my Male Normal and he for what ever reason attempted to start at the rear of the mouse rather then the head, he gave up after a few minutes of trying and then ate it head first rather quickly. A small piece of wood chip was stuck to the mouses rear end. He ended up eating that as well. Is this okay? Will it break down like the rest of the mouse or get passed with no issues? I cant imagine that I would be the first to experience this happening, although from allot of pics I have seen on here, a majority seem to use newspaper for the bottom of there tank/enclosure.

I just want someone other then me that knows more then I do about snakes to put my mind at ease.

    Thanks everyone!

This is one of the reasons I prefer paper towels and newsprint to bedding.

X2. Back in the day I used to use loose substrate material until a very small piece of the substrate got lodged between two teeth at the gum line. All of the sudden I had food refusal. It took me forever to figure out the problem which when I did was close to causing an infection.

Thanks everyone, I can sleep easy. I will keep the substrate in the teeth thing in mind for the future if I find he has an issue with feeding. I will just chalk up last night to him getting a tad bit of fiber into his diet.

This is a question I have also wondered after seeing my bp's eat small pieces of substrate on several ocassions. I have a feeling I will be making the swtch to newspaper or paper towels soon.
