my ball wont go in his hide
i took him out to feed him today and while he was out i put some moss in his hide because i was having humidity issues. Normally after eating he goes right back into his hide and stays there for a day or 2 while he digest but today he wont go in at all. Also i did this for my other ball and it took a very long time for her to go back in hers and now it kinda looks like shes puching it out of her hide but she may be working off her shed. Is it possible that they dont like the moss.

Re: my ball wont go in his hide
The hides could not be that suitable for them if they are not going in them. What are the hides like? Pictures? I don't think the moss has anything to do with it, normally it won't bother the snakes. But to experiment, try taking out the moss from the hides and putting it around the enclosure.
Also, when I cannot get my humidity up I just make a moist hide. The moist hide has warm, damp paper towels in it. I also use this moist hide for my Leopard gecko since they need it.

Re: my ball wont go in his hide
If your having humidity trouble...Get a "glad-lock" conatiner, use a hole punch or something to put holes in the container and place damp paper towels inside the container and cover with lid and place inside the enclosure near the heat source, this way it keeps stuff out of the hides.

Re: my ball wont go in his hide
Well they obviously don't like the moss in their hides.
If you need a humid hide, make an extra humid hide and they will use it when they want to. It may take a week for them to get used to the new hide but they will eventually use it when they need too.

don't freak out because your ball python won't go in it's hide.. I have a female, that hasn't been in her hide for a few days now, she's just relaxing close to it, not roaming or anything. Make sure to check that your ball python hasn't used the washroom because they also tend to stay out of the hides if that's the case as well.
