    Dumbo Genetics

My neighbor bred a male dumbo to a "normal" female.

She was told that unless the normal female carried the dumbo gene none of the babies would be dumbo's. Is this correct? Would that mean if the dumbo father was bred back to one of his daughters that the babies would then be dumbo's?

Sorry if it's an obvious question, I'm not all that knowledgeable when it comes to genetics.

    Thanks Guys!

Correct Dumbos are recessive, therefore if the female does not carry the gene all the babies would be het Dumbos, if she does she would produce 50% Dumbos and 50% Het Dumbos

Dumbo X Normal = Het Dumbos

    Dumbo X Het Dumbo = 50% Dumbos + 50% Het Dumbos

    Dumbo X Dumbo = Dumbos

Would that mean if the dumbo father was bred back to one of his daughters that the babies would then be dumbo's?
    See above.
