Industry Summit Meeting USARK/PIJAC
It is VERY important that you attend this conference. It is not just another "show".
Please make plans to be there for this meeting.
-USARK/PIJAC Industry Summit Meeting-
Tinley Park Holiday Inn Select
& Convention Center
Tinley Park, IL.
Feb 13-14, 2010
Sat 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Sun 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
-The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC) has issued an urgent action alert to combat a new bill that can potentially end our industry. The bill, as many of you know, would ban the ownership of certain reptiles as pets. The bill was modified to be much less damaging, thanks to PIJAC, USARK, and the many individuals that donated money and worked behind-the-scenes. If this bill had gone through as written, it would have ended the NARBC, The Daytona Expo, Reptiles Magazine, and put most of the larger, legitimate people in our industry out of business.
We are not done with Senate Bill 373 as currently written. We still need to fight against the current animals listed on it.
-HOW CAN I HELP?
NARBC is organizing a special, one-time benefit exposition to raise funds and awareness of the issues facing the reptile industry on behalf of PIJAC and USARK. The PIJAC USARK Tinley Park Summit & Show will be held on Feb 13-14, 2010 at the Tinley Park Holiday Inn Convention Center in Tinley Park, IL. OUR CALL FOR VENDORS IS NOW OPEN. Your participation in this inaugural exposition will be essential to saving our industry. As with NARBC, this special show and fundraiser will be attended by the industry's finest. Please expect a special emphasis on the steps we need to take to save the reptile industry. All talks will focus on this theme.
-INDUSTRY SUMMIT-
We will host a very important industry meeting at the Tinley Park Convention Center on Friday, Feb. 12 at 6:00 p.m. We will close vendor set-up so everyone can attend. All Speakers will be presenting info on reptile related legislation, dealling with congress representives, and other related subjects.
We need to keep pounding away at all of our representatives in Congress to let them know what we think about this new bill. Please read through PIJAC's alerts here-

When this bill does go through, it will not be the end of this issue. There are many more bills like it on the way being pushed by very motivated and financially-healthy animal rights organizations misinformed about our industry. We need to band together now more than ever. If you think we are finally out of hot water on this issue, you could not be more wrong.
Please know that your participation in this upcoming show and summit will hugely impact our ability to take action on your behalf. Contact us with any additional questions.

Re: Industry Summit Meeting USARK/PIJAC
At this point I believe there are so many senators that were unaware of this and so many that are being contacted, that it shouldnt go through as fast as everyone thought it would.
I believe we have time to keep fighting this. That is part of the point of this show. I think I will contact brian to see if this has been passed to any of the senators. It would be awesome if some would attend and open their eyes.
