    Cypress

This is a little bit of a newbie question, but a few months ago I put in some cypress mulch with my snake for about a week or two. Throughout this time, he would wheeze and "whistle" when I held him. When I switched to newspaper, this behavior stopped.

I'm asking because for Christmas I got him a tank instead of a tub and will need to use some sort of humidity-holding device and cypress would be perfect. Is he allergic to cypress, did I get the wrong kind, etc?

I have humidity issues also, and have both of my animals in glass cages. I recently switched to coco soft - (coconut mulch) and it’s wonderful. Looks great, organic, odorless, absorbs urine and easy to spot clean. It’s also great for humidity because it holds water wonderfully. When I first started using it, I said ”Where have you been my whole life?”

My boa does this also on cypress. I believe it to be wood dust caught in his nose or something (suddenly unsure whether boas breathe thru 'noses')
just a theory of mine - nothing to back it up except crackpot ideas.

Coco is the way to go it really helped my humidity problem and holds the heat in my tamk better than the light colored stuff, And usually you can find it at pet store or even the big stores like petco
