so im obsessed wit them now

so the expo is in jan, already have a cage for my RTB, definatly getting my first morph, and been obsessed with carpets for about a month, so what a good species that can fit in a tub, say a 72 qut, not pressed for money but for space, I've heard and read differant science names for them, but not common names, so what a tub friendly species, saw the ap cages, and pvc stackable and don't wanna pay that much, but will if i have to, also the ones i've seen are quite high.

To be honest, I can't think of a single tub I've seen that is a good enough size for even an IJ.

A 5 foot IJ needs at least 3x2x1, preferably 3x2x2.

The other subspecies available in the US (diamonds, jungles, and coastals) all get big enough to need at least a 4x2x2. They really do use the space. My coastal girl at a year and a half old is already around 50''+ and makes full use of her 4x2x2. She's not very heavy though, just really long, I'm sure she's still under 700 grams when empty.

IF you can find a tub with big enough dimensions, there is absolutely no reason it would not work for a carpet python. I just haven't seen any, and I just adore my Animal Plastics cage because it is so nice (but as you stated, so expensive).

I'd suggest you check out www.moreliapythons.com, they were a great resource for me when I was looking at carpet pythons, and they even have individual forums for the individual subspecies.

Iris makes a big tub..4 1/2 feet long or so but theyre not very tall for a carpet. What are they, 14 inches tall? I can't remember. Anyways I'm planning on building cages for mine and my boa when they need it..if you've got the know how it wouldn't be too expensive.

As far as finding the snake the moreliapythons site has classifieds, and kingsnake always has some but do some research before you buy from anyone.

I currently have a carpet in the largest sterlite tubs they make, the ones that can hold christmas trees. And that should give her plenty of room for another year and a half. She's about a year old now.

So you could have a carpet in one of those for a reasonable amount of time until needing to get some kind of PVC or custom made enclosure for it.

http://market.kingsnake.com/index.php?cat=22 This is were i found my cages. I got 4 4x2x1 boaphile cages for $300.00. Sometime you can find some good deals. I got luck a found a breeder who was getting out of the business and only lived about a hour from me. That's the only thing that sucks if buying use most people won't ship.
