    Re: is this a coastal

    I'd have to say yes.

Sometimes it's hard to be sure, but I'm pretty positive it's got at least a healthy influence of coastal if it's a mutt.

i think its mixed with something else. i'm not into carpet pythons but i rescued this one and i love him/her. its hard to beleive that he was never handled before because he is so friendly. the guy i got it from said he had a red tail that he didnt want and thats what it was. i am glad i got him though. does he look skinny?

If you decide you don't want him, feel free to send him to me!

He looks healthy enough from the pictures as best as I can tell. Even IF he was a little underweight, I would never suggest anything other than a normal feeding schedule.

It amazes me to see how Coastals have evolved over the last 20 years. I haven't seen a "true" Coastal in many many years.

probably because even pure lines are being selectively bred... and our gene pool is too small here in the US to consistently produce wild type coastals. i know of a couple guys that have had pure coastals for over 20 years and because they do selective breeding for high contrast snakes... most noobs would say their offspring are crosses.

anyway, looks like a coastal to me. most crosses you see will have solid head patterns and other markers.
