    Re: Leaving Cali!

Thanks. We had a harrowing trip, but it could have been so much worse,. We took the 80 from Cali. We hit bad weather in Utah mountains; whiteout conditions and the like. Nebraska was similar. We had seen numerous storm warnings and basically, we raced the storm and got here. Today, the stretch of Iowa highway that we were on yesterday is now a disaster area, whiteouts, shut-down. We had seen many vehicles, semis and cars alike, in the ditches; many crashes were fatalities.
We left the road in Iowa. An ice patch and another vehicle cutting us off, caused us to do a full spinout and land down an embankment about 20 feet deep. I am just glad that no one hit us while we spun out, etc. We got towed out and reattached the Jeep to the truck (we were towing it.)
Still frazzled.. my snakes had to spend a few nights in snake bags and were fine during the crash. My cat is shaken up and still adapting well. Just want you to know that I am alive.

If I were moving out of California, I would have at least waited until the spring thaw. I hope the rest of your travels are safe.

    Re: Leaving Cali!

    Thanks!
There was no way to wait. The apartment that we were renting, was just too expensive. We went out with hopes for my husband's success, and the field that he is in, is just too broadly spread out there unless you have a local following. So if we stayed there, we would be trying to live on my grocery-store pay with two vehicles to pay for. Not that I am whining; I am just explaining our need to bow out of our lease and move back to NY. Happily though, I have a great job prospect with an interview on Tuesday; I am nervous, please wish me luck~!
