Can you staple flexwatt in between the metal as long as its not in the black areas?

    Hi,

    I really wouldn't.

At best you would be punching holes through the protective plastic coating which might allow moisture in to damage it.

At worst you could damage the element which could cause overheating and possibly even a fire.

Stick with taping it and make sure you have electrical tape over any cut ends before usig the foil tape to hold it in place.

Oh goodness please don't do this. Yes, you could technically staple through the plastic part without damaging the circuit, but odds are that the plastic will crack or otherwise tear when you staple it, which could eventually lead to exposed elements and a short or fire. Just use tape, it's a little more expensive, but it is more durable, it looks better, it is removable, and it is much less likely to burn your house to the ground.

Yes you can staple it, but only on the outer clear edges.. Even in pwilliams58's Rack DIY Thread, he screws right through this outer clear part... Go here and scroll down and you'll see what i mean.. http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ck+pwilliams58

So if you can screw through this, you can probably staple through it as well...

    Re: Stapling flexwatt

I am an electrician by trade and I think you could staple it in the clear outer edge I wouldnt get any where near the black circuit part or the 2 silver strips on the outside of the black but the clear plastic outer edge on the 2 sides should be fine. But I put a small piece of electrical tape over the 4 points of the sliver strip witch are your conductors and the exposed part I soldered the wire to and then I tape mine down with the waterproof aluminum tape they sell at home depot or lowes it works great and doesn't damage the plastic.
