A Snake That Likes To Be Handled?

My boa is extremely active when I handle him, he just doesn't sit still. He loves to stretch out his neck and slither around, but when I try to pu thim back in the enclosure he just refuses to go back. He's very sly, and when I get his head in the tank he comes right back out, and doesn't let go from the grip he has on my hand with his tail. So, I'm saying, I failed to get a baby boa back in his cage, and now he's still wrapped around my hand..

Do boas normally do this or does mine love attention LOL? I know snakes just tolerate handling, but this one is changing my mind on that theory o.O

My red tail loves to be held, he loves attention of all types... even loves the cat.... They are just a more personable snake it seems to me. Few of my ball pythons like to be held more than ocasionaly, my wifes corn doesnt like to be messed with at all, but thats what i love about my jax(my red tail....)

They don't love being handled per se, they love being free. My Boa liked to set on top of my computer monitor when he was young enough to fit, and then behind my laptop when he outgrew that. Now he likes to chill on our 56" plasma tv. It's all about where the warmest spot around me is. He'll find it and set there for as long as I'll let him.

He's alway preferred to chill out over roaming around. When it comes time to put him up though, it takes me ten minutes to get him in there. They are crafty about holding onto things so you can't get the doors shut before they are back out.

Yeah my boa is always reaching over to my face and neck, plus it is cold in here, so I guess he's just trying to get a warm spot. LOL I do agree about them being crafty with holding onto things.. that's how I have trouble keeping him in the cage. It's like once I get his body in, he races back out. Once he is a little larger, I'll take him over to my park to let him have a roaming session LOL.

My old corn snake LOVED to be out of his cage, and absolutely did everything it could to refuse to go back in.. lol. a corn pushing 6 foot can be tricky to stick back in their cage, they're pretty sly.

PITA to put back in the tub. Sounds like a typical boa to me. I have 10 of them and they are all a PITA to get back in their tubs. And they are all very active while being handled. Just how they are. Either they are exploring or trying to get away from you.

Im new but my Ball is the same... he is always in his hide, but while he is out he loves to crawl around on me and look around, when i put him back he seems to move around all over his cage for a while befor going back into his hide...

lol my boa she has only a 4x2x2 cage and I just leave the door open and she goes in and out all the time ( then agai nmy snake oom more less seald so she acan't get out) but she likes to hide in the ball python rack and such all the time. She more less cage trained too I almost always find her poo in the cage ( or on the section of tile igot in the room lol.. so clean up is so much easier.

Im down to only 3 red tails and i might breed them and i might not. I love having them around. I keep mine in the large vision cages and its really hard to get them back in. Im thinking of making a giant walk in cage in my basement with a fake tree inside for them to cruise on. And several branches on the walls for added climbing. They love to climb through the trees. They dont like being locked up in small tubs or cages. As a breeder i've kept them in large tubs for ever and only in the last year switched to the vision cages. But i think they need more room. im thinking about going with a 4x4x8 high cage with a sliding glass front door.
