Mites HELP!!!!PLEASE ASAP
Ok long story short I bought two corn snakes off of a guy who runs a reptile rescue. Had them in their tank together because he had them housed together but thats besides the point. I just went to handle for the first time since getting them and wow what do I see all over the one Mites. Now they are in the living room and my BP rack and my boa tank is in my bedroom. What do I do can they make their way to the bedroom. What do I buy. how can I prevent my other snakes from getting them .... Im so upset I live in a 1 bedroom apt so my living room and bedroom arent that far away.

they might be able to make it to the bedroom... treat ALL of the enclosures with prevent a mite (well not when the snakes are in them of course)

Provent-A-Mite. You can purchase it online if you can't find it at a specialty store locally.
It will clear the problem up quickly. Use according to instructions on the label! It treats the cages, not the snakes.
"Reptile Relief" can be used to get the mites off the snakes immediately, and then Provent-A-Mite will kill them off permanently.

Re: Mites HELP!!!!PLEASE ASAP
I have read that that Seven Dust (insect killer) is good to use like in a doorway to prevent mites from crossing that threshold. I never used it. I had 2 corns (hatchlings) housed together who both had mites. These snakes were in the same room as 2 other snakes.
I removed the infected tank and stand and sterilized the area. I proceded to treat EVERY snake as if it were in quarantine.
I treated the snakes with mites with reptile relief. I changed out their tanks to bare bones with cleanable hides and paper towels. I bleached everything else - including the stand. Everytime I treated the snakes, they would get a bath, a rubdown with Reptile Relief, and the tank would be bleached. I probably went overkill, but it took care of the issue. Every time I even turned on the light on that tank, I would wash up as if I was now crawling with mites.
I monintored my other snakes very carefully, completely expecting a mite infestation, but it never happened. I have not had issues with mites since. At the next expo, I bought a can of Provent-A-Mite to have it onhand. Thankfully, I have never had to use it
Good luck! Stay calm! I know mites are not fun. Just be methodical, and you shouldn't have an issue.

Re: Mites HELP!!!!PLEASE ASAP
make sure you read the directions for any product you do choose to buy. i prefer the provent a mite stuff myself. just make sure you don't put your animals back in the eclosures/tubs too soon. it must be dry before you put them back. the fumes will injure or kill your animals. The stuff works great. the mites will fall off off them in a day or so just from treating the enclosure and it will protect the enclosure for many weeks to prevent new eggs from hatching and starting the cycle all over!

Re: Mites HELP!!!!PLEASE ASAP
A few tips, that are going to help while the problem lasts ...
- Get the humidity as low as you can, (room and enclosures)
- Get rid of any aspen, fiber o whatever and sit all your reptiles in plain dry newspaper.
- Aply proven a mite (or any other comercial thing available) in every corner, junction, rack, tank.
Important: Do not aply any chemical to reptiles in shed ...
