    Growing too fast?!?

So my girl, Penny is growing! My question is she growing too fast? I know snakes of similar age can be all different weights so I am not trying to compare my girl to any other snake. I am more just curious if this rate of growth is normal. She was 130g this time last week. Today she is 148g. She gained 18 grams in 1 week!?!?! Her meal last Sunday was the biggest one yet. She ate a 16 gram rat fuzzy. She hasn't pooped in a long time but I don't see any swelling or feel anything hard in her. I think she just gained that much. This is my first BP so I have no idea about their growth. Does this sound normal??

I wouldn't say that's growing too fast. My girl was hatched out about a month before yours and weighs 382g. I don't weigh her weekly, so I'm not sure on how much she gains.

Maybe she's just absorbing most of her food.

I put a average of 100g a month on all my balls when they eat on a regular basis,I have one girl that hatched in late june & is close to 750g or more..she is bigger than my 08 female albino which is a little picky.

    Re: Growing too fast?!?

Hmm..well maybe she isn't growing fast enough then. I feed her every Sunday. She hasn't missed a meal yet, knock on wood. The fuzzies she has eaten up until last week were much smaller than what she got this week. The store I buy them at are out of frozen so the owner killed one of their fuzzies and froze it until I was ready. I wouldn't have considered it a fuzzy as it's eyes were open. Their frozen fuzzies are much smaller. The next size up they carry in frozen are what they call rat hoppers (is that a pup?) and it is way too big. Maybe when they get their frozens back in I should get a fuzzy and a pinkie or feed her every 5 days. Suggestions??

Feed every 5 days or feed two rat fuzzies.

Yeah, she is not growing that fast at all.

Also, I would weigh less often. Like every 2 weeks or after a poop. You aren't really going to get an accurate idea of how much they are gaining from one week to the next. The extra 2g is probably from drinking water or something.

    Re: Growing too fast?!?

There's no such thing as a snake growing 'too fast', there is such a thing as overfeeding.

    Re: Growing too fast?!?

If I decide to feed two fuzzies every seven days how long do I wait between the first and the second??
