Question
I have a juvenile female Ball. Shes alittle over 4 months old. been very active and eating well...however i came home today and she was laying in her water dish. she was cold and not moving well. I've got her warmed up now and water coming out her nose. shes moving alittle more. Why would she do this????

Re: Question
Well what are you temps and humidity level??
She might just be in there because she is getting ready to shed..but the water out of the nose freaks me out.
Can you hear her breathing? Does it look like she has any mucus around her mouth

Re: Question
Temp is way to low for your little one. Temps should be around 92 on the hot side, in the mid 80's on the cool side.

Re: Question
That was the cool side..sorry. 89-90 on hot side. Any ideas why she would do this?

Re: Question
My pythons used to soak. They don't really anymore because I keep the humidity up, but your little one might be just soaking. Those temps are still a little on the low side. I'd bump them up a few degrees.
Now, if water is coming out of her nose, I'd probably recommend taking her to a vet. I can't think of any reason why a snake would allow itself to drown if it had a way out of the bowl.

Re: Question
Its a very shallow water dish and multiple ways out. I will bump up the heat some more..thank you for that. I have 2 other adult males whom I raised and never had this issue. She is breathing fine now...i held her upside down and and got what water was there out. Humidity is 69% in her tank also. Was just very concerned about her. Now she has been going potty no problem...but hasnt in awhile....Maybe stopped up?? I dont know, Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks again.

Re: Question
Snakes can take a while to poop. I have some that poop once a week, some that poop once a month. It just depends on the snake.

Re: Question
To me it sounds like she might of dunked her head under and was clearing it out. My bee likes the water and will swim under sometimes and then blow the water out of his nostrils...but just for a second...almost like a sneeze. (he's weird). My other snake hates the water however she will get some water up her nose sometimes if I have to give her a bath and will do the same thing.
Make sure the temps are around 83-84 cool...and the warm is around 93. If your humidity is at 65% that is great. Probably just getting ready to shed.
Just keep an eye on her to make sure there is no mucus and there is no breathing issues in the future. I have never dealt with an RI but I hear that sometimes it can be very very sneaky and sometimes you don't notice it until it is bad.
That is about it for my knowledge on this though. Please anyone speak up if I have mistold anything.
Good luck!!

Re: Question
Oh yea..sorry the poop thing...ugh...who knows...some are on a tight schedule and poop regularly and others whenever it feels just right.
You can always bring her to my house and I can hold her for about 15 minutes and I guarantee you she will poop while on me.....
(If you have read any of my other post...my snakes have a problem going on me all the time)...oye!!
