Need help with glass tank setup

I know sum folk had pictures on here on how they kept humidty right in the tanks. Does anyone have a link to those threads? I remember seeing the newspaper on the screen lid. Also would this help for amb heat in tank. My cool side is around 77 with a basking side of 90-92. Cool side should be at a temp of 80 right? humidty at 32 - 40.
    Need some pointers please?

Try putting aluminum tape on the outside of the screen. Cover about 3/4 of the screen. That will help trap heat and humidity. Also, insulating the sides and back of the tank ith dark foam core board will help hold temps a bit better.

What about a glass top over the screen? The ones made for fish tanks have a 1 to 2 inch space in the back that would be plenty to allow air to circulate. A glass top would make the tank more tub-like.

I have a glass 20g long tank for my BP. I put aluminum foil covering 3/4 of the screen top which helps keep in heat and humidity. The part of the screen top that is not covered by foil is on the cool side.

I also have a UTH on the warm side and my temps are maintained wihout any issues.

Re: Need help with glass tank setup

Alright guys well I spent last nite puttin tin foil on the lid. Cant explain it much lets see if it makes sense. I covered the whole lid with tin foil, sat the heat dome over the baskin side and cut away to what now looks like a perfect circle where the light comes through. On the cool side I cut out like a half snicker bar size slit for a lil more ventilation. On top of the tin foil I layed newspaper down also, I think I did a lil extra there. So far cool side at 80 warm side at 90 humidty still at 20 something on basking side and 40 near bowl and cool side errrrrrrrr... would a mist from here to there solve that or what.

    Well 40% isn't too bad.

Just mist like once a day or once every other day and you should be fine.

During shed, you might want to offer a humid hide and mist a couple times a day.

Are you using a good hygrometer? It might not be reading right.

what type of bedding are you using ... bedding could make a difference as well ... i have a 55 gal tank with my 2 in it my hot side stays 92-95 and i use a under tank heater and a 100w infra red bulb... and my cool stays around 80-82 and i dont have anything covering my screen top and my humidity avaerages between 60-65% ... i use aspen snake bedding from zoo med

P.S .. i also have the water bowl placed dead center of tank that way half the water stays on the uth and the other dont this could help with my humidity as well
