Temper Tantrum??? please advise
So in an effort to switch my bp's substrate from aspen to newspaper, I put aspen on top of newspaper and gradually reduced the amount of aspen every cleaning until i could hopefully only use newspaper. When I finally got to the newspaper only step, i put constantine back in his house only to have him hiding on top of his water bowl and hides away from the floor.
Since I didn't have any extra aspen I just watched him until I made sure that he made his way down to his floor and into his hide, and then left him alone.
Now the past couple of days he's been rearranging his enclosure, disrupting the newspaper, and peeing EVERYWHERE. I think hes throwing a temper tantrum .
1. Does anyone else have experience of this happening?
2. Will he get over it or should I just put the aspen back in?
Thanks for anyone advice anyone has!

Re: Temper Tantrum??? please advise
LOL! I had something similar happen when I tried to introduce a substrate besides newspaper! I had put cypress in my girl's enclosure to boost the humidity...keep in mind she had only been housed on newspaper up until this point...Typically, when I put her back in after I clean out her enclosure, I just show her her hide and she goes right in. This time, however, she tenatively stuck her head in, looked around for a couple of seconds then backed out as if to say, "Hey...there's dirt in there!" So I had to compromise and cut a small piece of newspaper to put just under her hide for her to lay on...she was happy as a clam to have her "newspaper security blanket." Perhaps stick a little cypress just in his hide?

LOL I dont think they are capable of that. use cypress once they get bigger they move newspaper all around so I use paper for babies & cypress for adults.

Some snakes just like to re arrange things. My big normal does it all the time. No matter what I do she will move everything around. But whatever, she eats poops and sheds just fine!
I think part of it is that you did make a change to his environment. It will take him a little while to get used to it. I would just give it a week or so.
