    Mexican Black Kingsnake

What is the average cost of a mexica black king? I'm looking at a couple for $80 each or $150 for the pair. they are both about 18 inches long. Good deal?

BHBreptiles sells them for $50. My gf was at a reptile show 2 weeks ago in Chicago and they had some there for $45. They are awesome looking snakes! Nice choice.

Yeah I got mine for like 40 bucks from BHB a few months ago. Granted it was at a show but he has reasonable prices. Just check out his site.

Are you sure you weren't looking at an ad for Black Milksnakes rather than Mexican Black Kingsnakes? The prices you listed sound more like Black Milksnake prices.

Met the meanest Mexican Black Kingsnake this weekend - he just bit for the sake of biting. I think Ed even has a picture of him gnawing on his owner's thumb. LOL

    Re: Mexican Black Kingsnake

Cool now you must post pics. Its been 3 weeks since you got the little one and no pics. I just love mine he is the most calm little guy. Most of the time baby colubrids are very nippy and flighty he will just calmly explore and could not care less whats going on around him. I think he would make the worst snake in the wild. He is soo absent minded lol, always in his own little world. But they really are just beautiful snakes. Does yours have any white? Mine has a little white goatee I went with BHB because they had the best quality MBK's at the show.

    Re: Mexican Black Kingsnake

Sadly the Black King I mentioned just died yesterday. Maybe you guys can help me out on the cause of death. The first pinkie I fed him he had no problems, the 2nd pinkie I fed him a week later he ate it fine. I checked on him a few days later and noticed the pinkie was vomited. I left him alone and a week later I offered him another pinkie in which he ate fine. A few days later same thing vomit. While I was cleaning up after that I noticed little dark bugs on his head and thought them to be mites. I went to the local pet store and got some mite treatment followed the directions and checked daily. I havent seen a bug since but everyday following he became slow, and doing a twisting motion with his head similar to IBD. Just yesterday I woke up to find the little guy dead. I own 11 snakes from Kings, corns and ball pythons and never have had any problems or deaths besides this one. Any info or help would be great.
    Thanks

Sorry to hear that! Sounds like internal parasites or a viral infection of some type. I know our vet does necropsys on stuff that dies on us, maybe you can get one done to know for sure.

    Re: Mexican Black Kingsnake

    Hi,

I hate to be the one to say it but it could also have been poisoning from the mite treatment with those symptoms.

And regurges are really serious symptoms and need careful treatment - especially in smaller snakes.

What did you use to treat for the mites and how did you use it?
