Neglected Balls

A month ago I found this one living in an empty apartment, slithering around. Seems underweight, and was a little feisty when I found her, just fed her a sm rat and she was verocious!

Not much of a change right now, but I really like her unique almost-complete-dorsal stripe, can you see it?





And most recently, tonight's image of the same snake from above, seems to be a female, though I have yet to probe it:



Two weeks later another BP was located in another homeowner's backyard in the cold, temp was at 55* degrees and had what seemed to be multiple sheds and eye-caps still stuck, and with a little moss and humidity I was able to successfully allow him to shed those stuck skins.

I am glad that you found them. They look generally healthy; a fecal exam would rule out (or confirm) internal parasites. Congrats on the shed skin; that is no small feat.

At first I thought, someone lost their collection of BP's but, come to think of it... each one of these were found at different areas of the city. What gives?!

So check this out guys... I just placed all 3 BP's in their individual tubs, they were originally inside smaller tubs I use for picking up strays when I get called out.

I haven't named each, and don't really like to since I take in too many sometimes and can't keep track so normally I just create an ID based on a number system I have.

But, this little gal (it seems) to have a very nice trait. Any thoughts?

all i can say is thank you for saving all those live critters.

i keep Piranha as well, and they are illegal in many southern states due to people getting bored of their fish and dumping them in a pond.
they thrive in warmer southern waters and could devastate the local community fish (dont normally at all but they can) so they are made illegal in many states.


im more than sure you finding all these abandoned balls is form people getting bored or neglect and it is just sad.
people think, oh thats so cool, or, i would love to watch it kill something, and then when the thrill is gone (if they gets thrills off that) they get bored.

its a shame, and i cant say for certain that all the snakes you found are in this category, but why else would you be finding all these balls?

Well, the suggestion of keeping them for my own has indeed crossed my mind, especially the lighter normal and the one recently pictured above seems to have a neat dorsal stripe, but I guess that's how most normals may look like anyway.

I'm new to BP's, kept them before but couldn't turn out any babies so I sold my pair almost 4 years ago. Now I've found these 3 and if I don't find them new homes, then I'll keep them as my breeders and start a "just-for-fun" project to breed them once ready.

There's several local pet stores I have sold my offspring to when I am able. So we'll see... they may just stay, depending on how many rescues I take in.

The advantage of doing these rescues is that I sometimes come across a unique little snake I'd like to "hold-back."

I'm also raising my own mice and rats, which I will have to ask more questions in a different thread elsewhere because I just can't seem to be able to breed the something so easy as mice. At least, not this batch. Grr!

That female somewhat resembles a Cinnamon, in my opionion. I could be wrong. She has a nice browned-out head, though. Diggin' the stripe on her tail, too!
