    Need Help

Hey guys I am looking into getting a male pastel ball python and I just can't seem to choose between these two snakes. I know alot about leopard geckos (owned a 350 dollars tangerine breeder) but not to much about how a good healthy pastel is supposed to look. These is where I need opinions. Which snake is the better pastel.

    Snake 1:

    Snake 2:

    Thanks in Advance!!

I'd go with #1. He's got incredible blushing, and very nice flames.

The blushing is the part of the snake where the black is blushed out and kinda whiteish.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me, my lemon pastel is perfect. To someone else, she may not be a top pick.

But over all the #1 is a better snake. Snake 1 was born on Aug 12th and weighs 109 grams where as snake 2 was born July and is still under 100 grams. I think to myself a younger snake weighing more is probably a healthier over all snake and will lack issues later on down the road. But that is why im coming to you guys. What's the deal?

The better snake is the one you will look at in 3 years and be happy you bought it.

Just because the snake is younger but weighs more is not a good indicator of overall health. The smaller yet older snake could have came from a larger clutch with smaller avg egg size than the other.

I like bright yellows in pastels; other people prefer more blushing. How many pastels have you looked at? Make sure you take the time to surf around and see the different varieties and variations the morph has to offer.

    Re: Need Help

^^I was looking at getting a nice looking snake as a pet and wanted a ball for so many years now. The normals turned me on to them then started looking around and saw all the different morphs. I like the look of other morphs better but way, way outta my price range. I can get either of these for less than a 100. I do love the look of pastel's alot though don't get me wrong. I will be happy with either of these snakes both look good.
Snake 1 seems to be the textbook type of pastel and will cost me more guessing cuz it's an overall better snake. Crediential wise. Also to me it seems like the head on this guys is bigger but doesn't seem as thick as snake 2
Snake 2 is more of a drive for me and working on 5 months seems to be alittle old to be first getting the ball at. Was looking to get it at 3 months. But I do like the yellow/orange color as well. Even though it's smaller it does look shinnier.
Thing is I just want the better overall snake just so I know that it will be healther down the road and what not.

    Re: Need Help

Took what ya'll said and thought what snake would I like to look at for many years to come and I LOVE the orange/yellow color of #2. I know the blushing and flames is the way to see if the snake has a better background and how expensive it is supposed to be but I really just dont like the look of the light brown snake only. Don't get me wrong he is agood looking snake I just like some color. Guess it's just the old Tangerine leo coming back to me. Picking him up for only 75 dollars this week!!
I just have one last ?, he is 4 months old (male) and weighs 79 grams. Is this bad??
