Whats an easy first non norm morph?
Been trying to learn the different morphs of ball pythons. After I get use to my norm what wold be the easiest morph to buy when I'm ready? Are some more available than others?

One thing Ive learned since coming to this country...it's easy to buy anything if you have the money. With the surge in popularity of python breeding you can find several examples of any morph thats within the 0-3000 dollar range. It comes down to having the money. Pastels and spiders are shaping up to be the cheapest and most produced that you can find because of the extras produced when theyre mixed in with combos. Yellowbellies are a subtle morph within that same price range, and mojaves and lessers are headed down that path too. Whatever you want you can get. Just buy from a reliable source and you'll be gold. And support your local & small breeders if you can.

By easy do you mean affordable? Or just plenty to choose from? Either way I'd say a nice "starter morph" is a pastel... they're quite affordable (males around $100-150, females $125-200) but dramatic enough in their looks, and you could easily find a nice one. You can also make some cool combos with them, like pewters, bumblebees, killer bees, and so on.
Other lower-end morphs you might consider - spider, pinstripe, mojave, albino, lesser?? It all depends on your budget, and what you like in terms of looks. So many to choose from!

I would have to say out of the most basic morphs:
Pastel
Spider
Pinstripe
Mojave
Although it seems most people are either a spider or pinstripe person, I love spiders and I dont realy like pins, but I can see why people would like them.

also there are some recessive mutations that have gotten to be affordable in recent years. Albinos, Hypo's, Axanthics come to mind. To me a great first morph would be an albino..they can't be mistaken as a normal. and you don't have to explain what they are to family and friends.

Re: Whats an easy first non norm morph?
My first morph, unless you count the yellow ghost het, was a pastel someone gave me on death's door and unfortunately he died before I could get him some vetting the next morning.
But, the morph I have now is an awesome spider that I picked up for 200 off craigslist. Craigslist isn't a bad place to get a snake, you just have to ask all the right questions, and I'm only the snakes' second owner.

By "easy" I mean both affordable and not difficult to come across. I'm a beginner so I dont think I'd spent over $1000 for a snake atm.

Well, there are tons of morphs that are easy to get, if you have the money for them that is. If you are getting a morph for just a pet, and not planning on breeding, you can try something simple. Pastels, Spiders, Pinstripes, Mojaves, Albinos, Lesser Platinums, Yellow Bellies, Butters, Fires, Ghosts, etc. are under $1,000, and very easy to find. I'm sure there are more that are easy to find, but those are just some I named. If you really want something simple you could try to get a Pastel, Spider, Pinstripe, Mojave, or Yellow Belly. Out of these morphs, I've noticed Yellow Bellies and Pastels will run at the cheapest. If you do want to get a good example of the morph, you may spend more than you think. But if you don't care what the quality of it is, you can purchase one of those for under $100.
At the Phoenix Reptile Expo I saw a Yellow Belly '08 male for $100 and he was pretty nice looking. I got a Pastel female for $130 and she is beautiful. I got my Spider for $325 but it was totally worth it. You can find Spiders for as low as $150, but you may find them more in the range for $200-$300.

I like both Pinstripe is definitely the next morph I'm going to get, and maybe after that I might get a YB. I don't really like the coloration of a Mojave, so I don't really ever plan on getting one.

Well my first morph was a pastel, but two weeks later I got a spider then a lesser. Depending on your budget just about any single gene morph are available all the time. And there are several places to look. My best advice is go to a reptile show and look at each morph in person, because no camera can completely capture the true beauty of any snake, so you can determine your favorite morph.
