    babies!

The woman I got my trio's from 5 days ago threw in a pregnant rat to give me a jump start on the project. She gave birth last night. I'm not sure how many are in there, but when I got up this morning, it looked like more than 10 little jellybeans that I could see sticking out from under mom. All of the rats are now piled on top of the babies so I can't get a good picture. I don't want to bother them just yet.

This is probably not so exciting to anyone who keeps these things and has seen babies in their tanks before, but its a first for me and I am very excited. I think I'm getting a little obsessed with these little guys.

    Re: babies!

Lol everyone feels the same the first time I think... I woke up on a sunday morning cause I keep hearing weird sounds, I looked into the 1.2 tank and just went like "oh, my, god..." Is not normaly of me to get all softy and say things like that

Actualy the moms just droped their 4th litter each, and I still have some males from their first litter, they weight around 50-55. They are so big now, but not many left. Im probably gonna feel a little sad when the last one goes... The first litters were 15 males and 3 females. 5 boys left...

    Re: babies!

It would rock if ASFs were legal to keep in CA... and/or as easy to get live to breed for feeders. I'm going the mouse route and am impatiently waiting for them to pop out some pink boogers! Though since the teeny weeny hognoses accept f/t, I think I should be breeding rats instead! Space... need more space...

    Oh, and congrats!

    Re: babies!

I get excited about any babies at any time & im 32 years old and have bred rodents on & off for about 20 years lol!

I went nuts when I saw my oldest female ball pythons first clutch of eggs.

I had 2 pregnant norway rats give birth on the same day last week & I went nuts over the pile of 15 rat pinks all squeaking.

2 of my ASF females ar ready to pop any day now and Im sure i'll get all giddy then too. Then shortly after that 2 of my mice will be dropping litters.

In a few months i'l have BP eggs everywhere & I may need a few slaps to contain my excitement

For some people the excitement never ends! Thats why its such an addicting hobby
