    Strange Behavior

So my three year old female common boa has suddenly started acted very strangely. In the past she has always been very docile and has always fed well and shed normally. About two weeks ago she started spending almost all of her time trying to push out of the top of her cage. She pushes so hard that she has shoved all of her aspen substrate and cage furniture into the center of the cage every day. Every morning I have to get in there and reorganize it for her just to have her spend all day shoving it around again. In addidition, she has started flatening out her throat and exhaling loudly through her nose. I've looked closely and not noticed any abbrasions or moisture on her nose, so I don't think its a respitory situation. Has anyone ever seen behavior like this from their Boas? Any help/advice would be very helpful.

My balls did that when I kept them in a tank, and my newest ball is doing that to his tub since he's in QT. Its pretty normal snake in captivity behavior.
