BP stopped using her hide box. normal??

    Hey guys.
This is my first time to post. I have a three month old female normal BP. This is my first ball to own. She is doing really well. She is beautiful and healthy. She is eating consistently once a week. She just had her first shed with me. It didn't come off all in one but it did all come off after a little soak. Here is my question. Since her shed she has stopped using her hide box. It is a half log that is pushed up against the wall of the viv so it is only exposed on one side. The walls are wood, painted white not glass. Anyway, after her shed she curled up in the other corner under some of the greenery. Now she is almost always on her driftwood perch. Usually she comes out at night when I turn her red light on and by the morning she is back in her log. I haven't seen her in her log for several days now and when I wake up she is still on her perch. Is it normal for them to not use their hide for so long from time to time?? Like I said, she looks healthy and she is eating. Her humidity and temps are fine too. Just curious what you guys think.

There was one time Snickets didn't use her hide for a day. She was curled up behind it, on top of the UTH. After that day she went back to using it. I don't know what she was doing.

BPs like hides that can touch them on all sides, that way they feel secure. Yeah, if you push one side to cover it, it gives more security. But the other side is still wide open. Try looking at the "Hides, my way" thread by Deborah, she gives really good ideas for hides. And most of them only cost under $5, where as half logs are $15+

I agree with Elise! The hide is probaly the problem. Also you should have two of the same hides, one on the uth and the other on the cool side! Sometimes they like heat and sometimes they don't!

My mojo stopped using her hide too...The medium was way too small, and the large didn't fit tight enough yet...Thus, she spend most of the time out of the hide, but pretty soon and some more grams on the girl and I think she'll be in it again...Hopefully...

She may feel more secure in that other spot for some reason. Can she see your ugly face from her hide?

She may also like the temperature more in the other spot. Although most balls will go to a hide even if the temps are not optimal, some are like BG...they're smart.... and realize they're better off being at the right temp.

ORRRR, she might be a BG type of snake. Meaning....she's very confident and doesn't need to "HIDE".
