    Baby BP Eating Habit

I have switched her to FT and since I have she doesnt really even coil the food. Just snaps at it and holds it down for a few minutes then just tries to swallow it from there. Normal?? Should I always just keep to feeding FT because I think a live rodent would do some harm to her if she keeps on eating like that.

She may realize it's dead. Some snakes show more intelligence than others when feeding. If you fed a live I'm sure she would go back to her natural instincts.

You could probably feed either without a problem.

They may not be realizing it in the same way you think. They could be feeling that there is no movement, struggling, or pulse and skip the waste of energy to coil it.

    Re: Baby BP Eating Habit

my lil girl will eat anything and i usually feed live but if its near her day to feed ill throw in a very small F/T mouse if she acting funny(like shes hungry) and she just looks at it then bites and its gone. personally i think they can see the heat leaving the body, they are very sensitive to heat. dont be afraid to try live if u want. make sure its not too big for ur snake or else u may be in trouble!!
