I got my first ball python in April of 2009. Three years prior I was scared to death of snakes. If I saw a garter snake in my yard I just knew he was going to eat me. After being educated and doing research a friend of mine talked me in to getting one at a local reptile show. Four months later I purchased my second. Currently, both of my ball pythons are housed in glass aquariums.
Because I have become addicted to the little fellas I am wanting MORE!! As a result I am looking at racks. I know nothing about ball python racks or what to look for in a rack. I have the resources to build one or buy one......however there is one aspect of the rack that is causing me concern.
The racks that I have seen advertised don't have a clip or other mechanism that keeps the tubs from being pushed forward by the ball python. Can a ball python push the tub open far enough to escape? Or is there a company that makes these that have a clip or lock to prevent the pythons from pushing the tub open so they could escape?
I have heard and read stories that they can escape if left unattended in a glass viv in a second. As a result I am confused about the racks I have seen that people are able to slide forward to access their ball python.
