Another lost snake thread

I just went to change the water in the milksnakes cage today and found that the lid was open about a half of an inch. The terrarium is one of those with the sliding lids that can lock.I looked under the hides and ran my hands through the bedding and found that my snake was MIA

I started a search, looking behind the oven, refrigerator, bed, in the closet, and trying to get into the nooks and crannies you would expect to find a snake... nothing yet

Last year and while I had the snake before, I had a lock on the cage because I have other people in my apartment besides me... I'm in a studio now, and I decided not to keep a lock on it in case I lost the key for some reason... Now I see what a mistake that was

Currently I'm heating up a small mouse, I was going to feed today anyways, and I'm not sure what to do next... I don't have flour, I should be able to get some at the store tonight.

I'm in an apartment and the front door has a gap that is just over a quarter of an inch by a quarter of an inch so I really think, and hope, that Vegas is still in my apartment... It's such a small apartment that I'm having trouble finding places to look...

I would appreciate any advice at all

Just a couple of updates:
The last time I saw Vegas, in the cage, was Wed. night, and I noticed the cage was open on Sat. morning.

I set a couple hot-spots in a couple corners of my apartment and put plastic bags in areas I think it might pass by, in corners and tight spots by the fridge and oven and stuff.

I am really worried of the possibility of escape from my apartment. I don't know how the people living in my hall would react to this kind of thing. On one hand, I want to give them a heads up in case the snake did manage to escape from my place, but I don't want to risk having to get property owners involved because I have a feeling they would try to send pest control or something ridiculous like that to take care of the problem...

Your best bet is to keep your mouth shut. You might even make the news. You said it was a venomous Coral snake right? Don't you realize that all Milk Snakes are killers? In case you didn't....that's what the news will report your snake is.

I put flour on all my floors, the thing was that my snake got to my front porch befor I laid the flour.

Well thanks for the words... I didn't tell my neighbors or anything and I'm still listening for it crawling around looking for food at night. Hopefully it will turn up

Hopefully you'll find it, snakes are just masters at hiding.

Double check the enclosure, too. Sometimes I freak out when I'm going through the Aspen and not finding my baby Hognose, then I finally find him after the second time. The little guy always fools me.. 8 grams of sneakiness

I could see how the title could be misleading.

I have a water dish out and I found it empty but I'm not sure if that's just from sitting out for so long or not. And it definitely was not still in the aspen, i thoroughly checked about 3 or 4 times to find nothing.

i would check anywhere around your heat sources .. your in ohio im sure it chilly there now and you might have your heat on check all around your heating elements if you have baseboard heating pull all the covers off ... also check your lower cabinets in the kitchen for some reason they like cabinets as well especially near the fridge an stove

sorry to hear that man i once bought a milksnake and a couple weeks later he escaped. they are infamous for it! i live in a bigger house so there was NO finding it. hopefully he got out and is still alive somewhere in GA.
