    Our moody Cali king...

This is Reiska, our California King snake. He/She is about 8-10 years old, don't know exact age, because he was "originally" bought from pet store then the guy who bought him sold the snake to the couple who gave this snake for us. Background is totally unknown, don't even know where he was born.

We got Reiska end of December 2008 so we've gotten used to his mood swings One day he's very easily handled, next day he's pooping on us and day after that he's so mad he bites... You'll never know on what mood ''His royal highness'' might be before u take him out of his viv.

The day we took this photo he was on a good mood, but didn't have time to take many photos when he suddenly thought that this photo shoot is over (letting us know by pooping on my bf..).

And here is a photo of one day when he wasnt on very good mood...

As u can see, we usually use leather gloves when taking him out of his terrarium, and this time he bit almost instantly... And didn't let go... he even tried to swallow the glove little time after taking this pic and didn't let go until we lured him with a rat and it still took a while before he stopped strangling the glove...
Luckily he hasn't been on biting mood for a long time. But we'll always be ready for his mood swings
He even bit my bf's friend once even though he was just standing next to my bf who handled this snake.

When we got this snake he hadn't eaten in few months and his previous owners said that he only eats white mice... We fed him right away when we got him, with a black tan mouse and he attacked instantly and ate it with great appetite...

Even though he has his faults, i love him and could never think about giving him away

    Re: Our moody Cali king...

I've got a few CalKings myself and I've noticed that some of them are just really hungry a lot. It's amazing how much they can eat. Try giving him 3 or 4 mice at a time or even a small rat or two. That may well mellow him out. At least for a couple of days.

They are great pets as a rule.
