New confidence
I've recently put Snickets on small rats due to the mice in town being very inconsistent and her not getting enough to eat. She's been doing wonderful, and I'm very pleased with her weight gain.
With the first two rats, I was going every 5 days, and she was fine with it. The third one, I dropped it in there, she gets it and kills it. Then she just poked around for a good minute or two, and almost went back into her hide. When she started going back, I (thinking out loud) said "What are you doing?!" She turned around and looked at me, then went back to her rat and finally decided to eat it. I took that as a "Mom, I just ate and these are filling!" So I waited 7 days after that, and gave her a rat. She ate it eagerly.
I was watching her closely between the 5th and 7th day, seeing if she would wander around looking for food. And was surprised when she didn't even come out of her hide when there was a mouse in the room for Micron. She wasn't searching for food at night (I've been having trouble sleeping, so I would've heard her rustling around). My new confidence is that I can read her body language, and she seems to be conveying it alot more now. Maybe it's her growing more into her little personality, but I was quite happy with myself being able to take a chance and getting it right.
Anyways, just wanted to share. My Boyfriend is out of town on business, and no one else likes to hear about how my snakes feed, lol.
