    I need mucho helpo!

Okay i am planning to acquire and breed a male spider with a female pastel (or vice versa) to achieve bumble bee ball pythons! BUT I need to know:

Where can i get the breeding snakes for $350 or less?

How much will i be able to sell the babies for?

What is the best place to sell the offspring.

    Forget those three questions.

    Ask yourself this.

Can I house adult BP's PROPERLY?

Can I house potential offspring properly?

Do I know enough about ballpython husbandry in general and what do I know about breeding?

Don't think easy cash. You won't be able to buy breedable size/weight animals for 350,- (and im talking morphs here)

Buy 2 '09 animals, learn about them. Watch them grow, see how they react,
and after three years, think about breeding. Not $$$ when you haven't even set the rest up properly.

    Just my 0,02 cents.

I can tell you right off the bat you won't find a breedable male spider and female Pastel for 350.00.. You might find a Juvi spider that would breed next year but a breeder female morph is golden in a breeders collection..

Where can i get the breeding snakes for $350 or less? : you can't. You MIGHT be able to get a breed able spider male for that much, but I haven't seen any. Breed able female spiders or pastels are worth much more than 350..

How much will i be able to sell the babies for? Look around and see what other bees, spiders, pastels and normals are going for.

Breeding snakes isn't just about making money. You need to put a lot of money down as initial investments. Do you have experience breeding snakes? Have you thought about how much hard work it is to sell babies? What if people don't buy them?

People sell at shows, over the net, in classifieds, to wholesalers, etc.

These responses are from another breeding post i replied on:

Breeding animals is not a guaranteed money maker. Many people get into this hobby for the wrong reasons, and I'm certainly not saying that you are but your post comes across as very monetarily driven. Understand the investments you'd need to make and the decisions you'd have to make if you chose to bring more snakes into the world (and that goes for anyone who is considering breeding anything, not just you I'm going to be doing very small time breeding and am making a business plan, and thinking about some of the less than thrilling aspects of breeding these snakes. Just search for "warning, graphic pictures" threads.. You'll see the hardship that may accompany breeding).

If you pick up a female, even one that is of breeding size, she (and any new snakes) you get should be quarantined. Where would you quarantine a snake in a dorm room? (i went to college, they dont call them shoe boxes for nothing lol). Many breeder sized females take a year off after they have been moved around or stressed a lot (like when being moved or transported, or coming from a rescue situation).

I recommend you look over this thread: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...23#post1165923 it has a lot of useful info on weather breeding snakes is something for you, and more.

Seems like you are putting the carriage before the horses here.

How about you buy some your animals raise them up, while you doing that do some research on breeding, see are you still like it after 2 years, then if you do start breeding and if you are successful than you can start worrying about how much you will be able to sell your hatchlings.

I completely agree with everyone in regards to this topic. Dont think too much of the income you'll be gettin when you succesfully bred some. Think of the passion and joy in raising hatchlings into adults. Thinking of money in return can even lead you to frustration ending up in quitting the hobby unhappy.

Sounds like you're not breeding for the love of ball pythons...if all you're seeing is easy money, then this isn't for you. The last thing you should worry about is how much you're selling the young for - worry about taking care of your snakes, having proper husbandry, etc. Instead of rushing into breeding (no way you'll be breeding by 2010) get a baby, raise it, care for it, learn all about it. Learn all about ball pythons, and if you still want to breed years later when your babies are ready - then go for it.

    Re: I need mucho helpo!

you've gotta breed them just for the passion of animal husbandry. don't get into just for the money. that can lead to improper care of the animals and bad/unhealthy decisions for your snakes. you are NOT going to find a female morph for anywhere near that price. so just buy yourself an '09 and raise the girl yourself. and DO NOT be in a hurry and over feed her. she's gonna be 3 maybe 4 before she's a good breeding weight. just keep the snake's health in mind and everything else will come. good luck!

    Re: I need mucho helpo!

i picked up a proven breeder male spider for 300 at a expo, but he was low white and there is NO WAY you will find a breeder female pastel for anywere near 250, probly closer to 800$
