    RTB questions

ok i might be getting a ed tail boa baby at the show next month. i will be using a 20 gallon long tank, it was given to me. i know they will need something much bigger as an adult but for a baby this will be fine. i will be using ecoearth as my beding because i had several bricks of it, plus it helps with humidity. i baked it at 300* for an hour. there are two large limbs in the tank for climbing. there are three hides, one on the hot side, one in the middle and one on the cool side. here are my questions.

i will be using a UTH, at the store the have 10-20, 30-40, and a 50-60 gallon pad. should i get the 30-40? one that is for a 10-20 did not work for my leopard geckos either. i have been told i should bust my feeders every few feedings to make sure the little one is getting his vits and cal. what name brand would you recommend?

i really hope that i can find a nice RTB at the show for a good price. thanks

No need to dust your feeders, they get everything they need from their rodents. Just make sure that the Rodents are well taken care of and are getting what they need.

As far as a heating pad size, get one that covers 1/4 of the tank, so that the whole warm hide can easily fit over it and theres room for it to shift over a little bit when the snake gets in and out and moves around it.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

    Re: RTB questions

10-20 gallon ZooMed UTHs suck! I ordered one thinking it was another size, and it's tiny! Might work for a 5 gallon, but for anything bigger it's not going to provide a proper gradient. The 30-40 or 50-60 are fine choices.

I think you've confused dusting and gut-loading. Dusting is not necessary for rodents; as a matter of fact, neither is gut-loading, but it's a good way to get some extra nutrients in the rodent. Commercial rodent food is the best gut-load out there. (Unless of course you're feeding f/t or pk.)

Which show are you going to? If it's anywhere near CA, there's a good chance Dave Colling will be there, and if Dave Colling is there, you are SURE to find some AWESOME looking BCIs!

I got this little Dave Colling 09 for $50! Best temperament and feeding response out of all my snakes!

That's a great price for a 50gal UTH. I've paid that much for a 10gal. Have fun at the expo!
