I picked up a pair of ringers recently, I was wondering how the ringer gene works? Is it recessive? could you breed Ringer X Ringer and get all ringers?

No, that is actually like...100% wrong. No, like a lot more than that. Like 1000%.
A ringer is just an anomaly that pops up every now and then on animals. It is NOT genetic, it does NOT reproduce, and it does NOT mean you have a het pied on your hands. It is NOT a marker for any trait, it is NOT reproduceable, and breeding ringer to ringer will NOT get you a pied, unless they were het pieds to being with.

Not true at all. Some may be ringers but ringer is just a random thing.

It can show up on any BP. Except like, BELs and what not...cause they kind of dont have a pattern.

This not correct. Ringers can show up randomly in any normal or morph BP. Also has come up in cornsnakes. A ringer doesn't mean it is a het for anything. The only way to tell a true het from others is from the breeder, who bred it. As of right now I'm not sure of anyone besides RDR really working with ringers or trying to prove them out to be something other then just a odd little gene that pops up here and there in BP's. I believe RDR dinked around with them a few years ago, not sure if he still is or not. I'm sure others may be out there doing the same.

The Epic Mojave YBs apparently produce ringers, but the founder of that project doesnt know if it can be reproduced yet. It was in the thread about the Titanium and Titan ball pythons from a couple days ago.

So from what you just said the 5 ringers out of a clutch of 7 I got last from normal to normal breeding are actually het pieds??? How about doing some actual research into a subject prior to responding. A ringer is just a fluke that means nothing honestly. Yes they are nice to look at and yes I love them but I do know that a ringer is just a fluke.

This is why I do not like people who are just getting into a hobby and know nothing about it attempting to answer a question that is way off base. People really need to learn how to do even minimal research if they are going to be keeping these animals.

People like bob here are why I have 4 rescues with horrid burns on their backs and are also why people think that keeping more than one snake per an enclosure year round is a great idea. Do some research and learn some facts.

Sorry for being so harsh, but this is reality if you do not know something do not answer it.
