thanks for the footage! I haven't seen seen mine do that yet. I tried to breed last season and it didn't take. My male and female are acting kinda squirley..maybe it's time to pair them. Was gonna wait till next week but maybe not.

Yeah it is pretty cool to see. I have 7 females for this yr and all but two have done it so far. But I have yet to get a lock so IDK.

My female did that last year, it was pretty cool and very surprising since I had no idea what the hell she was doing.
I have not seen any tail wagging this year, tho.. Why exactly do they do that? Flirting, scenting?

Not exactly sure. Some say it is a bad sign and some say it is a good sign. To me I believe it to be a good sign because all the while she is waggin her tail she is scenting all over and urating and pooping and pushing out her glands and draggin it on the paper. I think she is being receptive to the male being introduced to her. Even though in the vid the Pinstripe is running for the hills! LOL He is still young though at 450g so he may need some time to mature yet.

    Re: Some tail waggin footage

IMO the tail waggin' is her ay of telling the male that she is not happy with his presence. I have not bred a bunch of snakes, but, I produced a clutch this year and introduce my males the other day and had locks from all but one. From what I have seen, when the female wags her tail she is a bit aggitated. That's where his courting her into breeding comes into play. Good luck though.

    Re: Some tail waggin footage

Yeah this is my first season breeding and I have heard it both ways as a good and a bad sign so this will be interesting to see what happens out of it. Thanks for your insight though it is appreciated!
