    possible RI?

im new n i have asked a lot of questions. im sorry. my snake is in blue now. before he looked like he had "dried snot" on his left nostril going to his upper jaw. he didnt show any signs of shedding yet. i also saw him rubbing his nose against the glass like it itched. so then i read about "rubbed nose" maybe it was the beginning of shedding and it started at his nose. is that how it normally starts?

If you notice mucous or bubbles around the mouth and nose then that is a sign of an RI. Also, clicking or popping while breathing and open mouth breathing.

If you notice any of these symptoms then take the snake to see a vet. What you described doesn't really sound like an RI though. keep an eye on it.

i dont see bubbles or fluid but he does yawn. no open mouth breathing. i hear a small pop occasionally when i have my ear next to his neck and that is also what worries me.

I would recommend you to seek help from a vet. Better safe than sorry as they say.

    Re: possible RI?

    Hi,

The shed process can cause them to make noises when breathing on occasion though. Does the noise seem to be coming from his nose or further down near the lungs?

Since he is in blue already I would probably wait until the shed is over then seeing if there are any signs of an RI after that.

More definate signs however such as open mouthed breathing or stargazing for extended periods of time or mucus in the waterbowl or smeared on the cage furniture means putting on a vet appointment rather than waiting.
