    Green Tree Pythons

    Hey Everyone,

So this May I turn 17 and graduate highschool and finally am moving out of my parents and getting my own place, so of course now I'm going on a snake shopping spree =]

I've always wanted to get a GTP and now that I have the cash and space for them (not to mention no more parents to appeal to) I am finally ready to get one. However I've only really followed Ball Python and Cornsnakes for the past couple years so I have no idea who's a good breeder to get one from or a clue about the morphs that they can possibly carry. Anyone got a favorite breeder (or is a breeder) that I should contact?

Also I have 4 Tubs set up and ready for them 2 6Qts and 2 15Qts (don't know what size I'll need yet), but I would like to get them in a good caging system too once they get older, anyone got a favorite caging system that they use? Also favorite substrate to hold humidity?

Thanks in advance for any replies =]

GTPs are arboreal, so make sure the tubs you have will be tall enough fit branches horizontally in them.
Animal plastics sells some good arboreal cages. Substrate varies from person to person, but in a tub humidity usually isn't a problem so paper-towels to cocoa fiber is all good.

I don't keep any GTPs, but I will say you're in luck in that there are a good number of respectable people who deal with GTPs, many of whom have websites so you can browse available animals!

I'll go ahead and point you towards one guy:
    http://www.signalherp.com/index.html

I just like browsing his website and I've never heard anything bad about him.

Tubs are a great way to house hatchlings as I'm sure you know, they hold humidity great! I understand many people don't even use substrate at all in hatchling tubs, as it makes complete cleaing easy-peasy to help maintain perfectly clean conditions. Again I don't keep GTPs but it's just what I've seen, others will chime in on whether or not this is ideal. I'd probably at least throw in paper towels.

I've seen people use everything from glass exo-terras to custom built PVC or other platic-material cages for adults. I think I'd prefer the plastic cages for GTPs, especially something with side ventilation rather than top-screen ventilation, to help hold humidity.

As far as substrate goes, I've seen everything from coconut coir(bed-a-beast type) to paper towels, or as I stated before NOTHING.. anything that is moist will hold humidity.

    I have bought 3 Chondros from http://www.frantzherp.com/

Never had any problems with any of my babies from him, I sold them awhile back but nonetheless I trust him. I have heard he farm raised his. But I'm not completely sure.

Either way if you want a really stunning GTP spend the extra money and get one from http://www.signalherp.com/index.html

    They are worth every penny.
